Procrastination is the fuel for blog posting. I decided to stay up to reset my sleep schedule and to get some work done but I’m too tired to concentrate at this point.. Writing gibberish in a blog is infinitely less destructive than doing so in my paper!
So parkour.. I was dragged along to a class by a friend, and surprisingly, it was ok and kind of fun. You never know how high you can jump until you actually try it, I guess.
The problem is, it takes so much energy to do anything in that class that I’ve only gone to two classes so far… Mostly because I usually don’t feel up to expending that much energy. I think yoga’s still more my speed.
If you don’t know what parkour is, youtube will explain it far better than I can.
[insert youtube video later.. For the impatient, here's a link:
1. went to Roy’s for lunch to try the annual dine about town in SF,
2. worked in a cafe that had really bad ergonomics (chair was too high for the table) so now my back hurts from hunching over to use my laptop (for 4 hours),
3. watched up (brought the 3d glasses home :p), and
4. met up with a really old friend (elementary school)! [who told me about putting the glasses together to see the polarization so now I want to do that too] stupid ochem – the first thing I thought of about the glasses was the D & L configurations so I didn’t even think about putting them together!
As an addendum to my last post, I’m including some pictures I took for the 228 memorial park in Chiayi. I have pictures of the one in Taipei as well, but I know there are plenty of those out there! =)
I liked the park, even though it felt pretty run-down. First thing was the museum:
With it’s nifty sign (it’s directly across from the entrance shown in the first photo).
I discovered the flickr widget (seen on the right of this blog) while looking for a place to put the flickr badge. It’s either new or I never had any use for it before. Either way, I have an easy solution to my problem!
I prefer the flickr flash badge, which has a mosaic of pictures and enlarges random ones periodically, but until I figure out how to put that on this, the flickr widget will have to do.
So now you can keep track of whether I’m keeping resolution #2. I failed in all resolutions last week because I got sick again, but I should be able to keep them now that I’m feeling better. =)
It’s ironic that I’m making resolutions at the same time many people are supposedly failing/giving up on theirs.. but these are LUNAR new year resolutions so they’re special! So here goes…
1. Do some stretching/yoga/exercising every day, even if it’s only for a minute. Already started.. it actually works.. I noticed my balance getting better after a couple of days.
2. Upload an album to flickr every day (or at least every few days).Did that too…it’s mostly because I have so many pictures in my computer that I never put up.. I’m sure there are tons of people wondering where I’m hiding them!
3. Write a new entry every few days (at least once a week).. even if it’s a private entry just to organize my thoughts.Writing regularly is supposed to improve your writing.. and it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged regularly..
4. Do at least one puzzle but no more than 5 every day. I already do that to exercise my brain, but sometimes I do so many I end up wasting too much time.
5. Watch no more than two shows/movies a day.I watch something while I eat because I can’t exactly type while I eat.. but sometiimes I end up watching stuff one after another.. so gotta limit that.
6. Sleep by 12. My average bedtime this last week is 3am.. Definitely need to change that.
7. Get up by 9 or 10.Sleeping late leads to getting up late because I promised myself I’d at least get enough sleep even if it’s irregular.
That is aside from the obvious resolution of finishing my work, of course! =p
The other day, I went into a Lucky store for some groceries… and I noticed these cupcakes.
Ok so I didn’t just “notice” them, I went looking for them. I always check out the baked goods — just to see what they have and to admire them, even though I rarely buy anything. Yes I’m strange. :p
Anyway, these are quite unique — not just because they’re colorful, but because they look like they’ve been spray painted. Yup, the coloring is not a result of very very fine sprinkles.
As in exhibit #2 (to the right –>), there is literally a line of color going down each row of cupcakes.
I don’t know what it is, but it can’t be good for you. Hoping it was just the party trays, I looked for normal ones — but they also had coloring on them.
The only cupcakes that weren’t painted were the dirty looking ones in the first photo (those were sprinkles).
I’ve been a bit more tired lately and I think as a consequence my entries have deteriorated somewhat. I took a break from writing but I wanted to share this:
While riding Bart, I was feeling extra tired and misanthropic, so when the guy next to me left, I decided to be selfish and stay in the aisle seat instead of moving over so others could sit down. I told myself there were plenty of other empty seats around me so it’s ok.
Out of habit, I still looked up each time the train stopped to make sure no one had to stand. At one stop, this one lady caught my eye so I grudgingly moved over and closed my eyes again.
Seconds later, I hear a soft, friendly, and sincere voice speaking to me. It was the lady asking if I’d like to sit on the outside instead.
